1st of August every year since 2008 is the official birthday of His Majesty King George Tupou V, a public holiday of relaxation at the beach or just spending quality time with family and loved ones at home.

This year, 01st of August falls on Sunday and since Sunday is a day dedicated to prayers and thanksgiving, the public holiday is then observed on Monday 2nd. All main stores and business are closed except for small retail shops, gas stations, bakeries, etc!
